About Bodhi

AGE-3 years old

Energy level- -Medium

Medical history-Healthy.

Ideal home- Bodhi would do best in a quiet low stress all adult home. Buddy is fearful of men and will snap at them.  A dog walker is needed if working full time.

Meet Bodhi! This little guy weighs 12 pounds and is house-trained. Bodhi loves to play all day with his toys. He will drop a toy at your feet and bark excitedly to initiate play. He is very vocal during his playtime and runs and barks with excitement.

While he has learned to trust his foster mom over the year that he’s been with our rescue, Bodhi is still fearful of the men in the house. We think Bodhi experienced some abuse in the past, which may explain why he is so fear-reactive around people, especially men. He’s fearful of women too but he eventually warms up to his female owner. We’re hoping to find Bodhi a quiet home with only one female.  No apartments, townhomes, or condos please because they will be too busy for him. Bodhi would do great with a fenced yard.

Because Bodhi is so special, CHR is committed to keeping Bodhi in a life-long foster home so that we can continue to offer support for his care.

He’s around men and dogs in his current foster home, so it’s just not the right place for him.

If you are a single female with experience with fearful doggies, give us a shout!

 What is a "Zen" atmosphere?

1.      A home with only adults, no young children. We like children but in certain cases as in the case of Bodhi, who is stressed from recent and possibly past mental trauma, a home without children is the safest way to ensure that no incidents of nipping or biting occur.

 2.      A quiet neighborhood with low foot traffic where you can walk Bodhi   Example: an apartment building with narrow hallways and lots of people walking by is the opposite of low foot traffic.

CHR Policies- Please understand that CHR does not adopt out the DC-Metro area or to homes with children under 11 years old.  No exemptions.  Visit our policies page at'

Ideal Home Setting

We want to provide as much information about our foster dogs as possible, but sometimes it’s hard to do in the short biography shown above. To help applicants better understand the type of home setting that will work best for a specific dog, we include the Ideal Home section under each bio. Please take a minute to read the Ideal Home section. Applications that most closely match the Ideal Home description will be given priority.Example: If the IDEAL HOME section specifies that someone be home part or all of the work day, CHR will require that all applicants be home part or all of the work day.
