Meet Sprout, 5-6 years old
This sweet little Maltese weighs around 6 pounds and is super sweet. Sprout was rescued from a puppy mill, along with his brother Cooper, listed below. Sprout is shy when you meet him, which can lead to him being overlooked by many adopters. We know it's due to fear. For this reason, we have him also listed under our Safe Haven Sanctuary, where he will always be safe if he is never adopted.
Since his rescue, he is LOVING life! He loves to run around the yard playing and enjoys climbing up to kiss you on your cheek. This little munchkin is used to being around other small dogs in the puppy mill, so we feel he would do best in a household with another small dog.
Sprout had a complete dental where most of his teeth were removed. He also had blood work, and he's in excellent health.

Meet Cooper (5-6 years old)
Cooper is the sweetest dog. He LOVES people and enjoys cuddling with his people more than anything. He is very demanding when it comes to getting attention, so keep this in mind if you have other dogs, because his happy place is on your lap. Cooper is used to going out for a potty break in a fenced back yard so we are asking that his new home have a securely fenced yard. He is so smart, so we think he will learn to walk on a leash over time. Cooper is a Maltese who weights around 8 pounds. He came from a puppy mill.
He was neutered and had a complete dental, losing seven teeth. Cooper is so sweet he could be a therapy dog. He loves anyone he meets and will immediately crawl on your guest's lap for kisses.
Meet Star, 5-6 years old
Sweet Star came to CHR a year ago in rough condition at the age of 5 or 6 years old. She lived in a puppy mill, where she was bred to produce puppies for sale. She lived in a small shed with access to the outdoors through a doggie door. Recently, Star was diagnosed with a torn cruciate, so on 6/19 she will have orthopedic surgery to repair the cruciate tear. We’re keeping Star in our Safe Haven Sanctuary while she recovers, but we are still looking for her forever home if the fit is good for you and her. Star’s foster mom describes her as a beam of sunshine. She’s spunky and full of love and gentleness, and she kisses humans and dogs alike. She enjoys walking through a fenced yard to find just the right spot to eliminate. We’re asking her to go to a home with a fenced yard. Star loves to nap by your side. She is like a sponge, absorbing your hugs and kisses daily.
One of the biggest challenges with Star is that she will sometimes(1-2 times a week) eliminates on top of dog beds. This could be a marking behavior from being in the puppy mill. Her foster mom picks up the beds before feeding to make sure there are no triggers, like after eating, when she may go eliminate on them or she immediately lets her out for a potty break after eating. Star is also let out every 3 hours during the day for a potty break. At night, she does well without accidents, but she may have accidents for the first few months in any house she goes to, so we recommend diapers for this cutie at night during the beginning of her stay with you. Star does not enjoy being crated, and it's not recommended for a puppy mill survivor.
Meet Lacey 9 years old
Lacie may be tiny(7 pounds), but her personality is anything but small! This spunky little sweetheart is full of charm and loves nothing more than curling up in your lap for scratches and snuggles.
When she’s not soaking up attention, Lacie is on the hunt for the coziest spot in the house. If you can’t find her, just check the nearest pile of blankets. She loves to burrow under them or tuck herself behind pillows for the ultimate comfy nap!
She’s a goofy girl who enjoys gentle play and sweet little nuzzles. Lacie isn’t much of a barker; she only “talks” when she’s trying to tell you something important. She walks beautifully on leash and is ready for neighborhood strolls. Plus, she comes with her own wardrobe and is excited to add to it! At nine years old, Lacey was treated for Lyme disease when she came to CHR. She was treated for it and is doing great but her protein levels in her urine were a tad high so she was placed on a inexpensive medicine called Benazepril which she will need to stay on long-term to make sure her urine protein levels are always good. Lacey is full of life looking for her forever home!

Meet Buster, 9 years old
Meet Buster, a nine-year-old 17-pound Pomeranian, who was rehomed through no fault of his own. His owner, who was moving into a retirement home and couldn’t take him, was trying to rehome him in a shelter parking lot because the shelter was full. A volunteer saw this happening and stepped in to offer Buster a place in our rescue. This gorgeous little boy is very friendly with people and other dogs. Buster enjoys walks and exploring the fenced yard in his foster home. He also likes car rides and eagerly awaits the opportunity to hop in. But mostly, Buster enjoys hanging out with his people, gazing adoringly at them with his big brown eyes. Buster is an all-around good boy who will make a loyal and loving companion.
Buster is UTD on vaccines and heartworm testing. He was recently neutered and received a full dental cleaning. Buster has a mild heart condition that is being well managed with inexpensive daily medication but is otherwise very healthy. This special boy deserves to have a forever home where he will always be loved and cared for.
