Buddy

About Buddy

Age: 3 years old

Energy level: Medium

Medical history: Healthy. Neutered and up-to-date on shots.

Ideal home:. An all-adult home without another dog and with someone home part of the workday. Experienced dog owner(s). Prior Yorkie experience a plus! No apartments or condos because Buddy may disrupt neighbors by alert barking.

CHR Policies: We do not adopt outside the DC Metro area or to homes with children under 11 years old. No exceptions. Visit our policies page for more information.

Buddy offers up a large helping of fun and spunkiness in an eight-pound package! He is loving and sweet and quickly captures your heart. A curious little Yorkie, but he can be a handful on walks, so CHR requires that applicants have a dog-secure fenced yard. Buddy has a tiny bladder, so he needs to go out for a potty break every few hours, and will have accidents if he is not let out during the day. For this reason, he will need someone home during the day.

Buddy is a typical Yorkie who takes his job as a watchdog seriously (no need to get that new video doorbell—Buddy will announce all guests!). CHR is hoping to find him in a detached house setting because his alert barking may disrupt neighbors. Buddy loves treats so much that he will be a little protective if you try to take his bone away. He has bitten before when someone has attempted to take a treat away from him. But there’s an easy fix: just trade him for another treat he loves even more (right now it’s animal crackers!).

While he co-exists well with other dogs, Buddy’s eagerness to be the number one furbaby in the home sometimes gets him in trouble with other dogs. For that reason, we are asking for a home where he will be the only dog.

So, if you’re looking for a dog with a lot of character and a compact size, Buddy is your pup!

Ideal Home Setting

We want to provide as much information about our foster dogs as possible, but sometimes it’s hard to do in the short biography shown above. To help applicants better understand the type of home setting that will work best for a specific dog, we include the Ideal Home section under each bio. Please take a minute to read the Ideal Home section. Applications that most closely match the Ideal Home description will be given priority.Example: If the IDEAL HOME section specifies that someone be home part or all of the work day, CHR will require that all applicants be home part or all of the work day.
