It's amazing the transformation that takes place when you take a dog away from a neglectful past and place them into a foster home to rehabilitate and prepare them for their new forever home. A lot of money and love goes into our orphaned babies. We are grateful for all the support we receive from wonderful people like you.

Molly-9.5 years
Poor Molly has been through hell. She was surrender by her owners due to their inability to care for Molly's medical needs. Molly is a 9.5 year old mix who came into Rescue in rough shape We rushed her into surgery shortly after her rescue. She had 27 teeth pulled leaving her with no teeth!! She also had a huge bladder stone causing terrible discomfort! She was in great hands at Crosspointe Animal Hospital and is now on the way to feeling better and we promise she will never be abandoned, or allowed to suffer like this again. We're hoping to raise money for her recent medical care. Molly is a darling little girl and we're sure you would agree she is worth it! Shaggy - 2 year old
You can see the sadness in Shaggy's eyes in the picture below on the left. We see that look a lot on new dogs. Shaggy came from a rural shelter as a stray.
His foster mom spent a lot of time rehabilitating this frightened little boy. It takes a lot of work desensitizing a dog to noises and meeting new people. Shaggy had very little socializing in his past. He was scared of everything! He's come a long way though and is in a safe home where he will never be neglected again!

Louie- 10 year old
Louie came into Rescue in horrible condition as you can see. His skin condition sadly left him inflamed and painful. Louie's heart was a stage 5 murmur so we took him to Chesapeake Cardiology for a heart workup. He was placed on healthy food and Omega supplements and his health improved. He was adopted out to a lovely owner who continues his care. His new vet is Dr. Morse who a Holistic Vet in Arlington. She's very knowledgeable on most conditions. You can see the drastic improvement that good care brings between the two pictures.

Hope- 13 year old
Hope came to us from a shelter up North. She was so weak and miserable upon Rescue. This poor 13 year old had been through so much. Sadly, her untreated dry eye has taken most of her site, but she still gets around and her spunky nature has come out now that she's been in a loving home the last year. She's on daily medicated eye drops and is thriving with the best of care in her foster home. This little girl will never know suffering again that's for sure!!!

BB- 4 year old
BB came to us from a rural shelter as a stray. You have to hold back the tears in a Rescue case like this. Look at this intake video - http://youtu.be/onRPV1_jMkY BB's skin was inflamed and multiple X-rays of his leg showed he's been in this condition for some time. Due to the extent of damaged to the front legs it was found impossible to do surgery on the legs. He was diagnosed with retinal degeneration, which will leave him blind within the year. He also suffers from dry so is on a ointment daily.
He'll stay on daily joint supplements the rest of his life. This boy will always be pampered and receive the care he rightfully deserved from the beginning. He will never suffer again and that's a promise.

Lily- 9 year old
We often rescue Asian Breed dogs in the worst condition. Unfortunately, many people adopting a breed like the Shih Tzu don't understand the extra maintenance this breed requires. Shih Tzus have large eyes, which often require additional testing for dry eye. It's not uncommon for 50% of the Shih Tzus we take in to receive extra eye exams that test for dry eye or possible lesions in the eye. Often, a glaucoma test is added on if the vet is thorough. Lily's Rescue was very stressful. Lily was Rescued from a shelter up North. She was in horrible shape due to her proptosed eye(it popped out)We were frantic to get her to our vets to have the eye removed immediately. It took a week to finally get her here and immediately into surgery. The after effects of her traumatic experience really affected this little girl. She was frightened of new people and often snapped at them in fear. Her remaining eye had a condition called dry eye and glaucoma. Months after resting and seeking the guidance from a positive trainer, Lily thrives in her new home. The difference in her is amazing. This is one of those happy endings, which give meaning to what Rescue is all about.

Peanut- 8 year old
Peanut was another stressful rescue. She was Rescued from a backyard breeder in horrible condition. She had a large tumor hanging from her vulva that
was a horrible site to witness to say the least. We can't even show the pictures due to the horrible disgusting graphic nature. The breeder threatened to cut the tumor off with scissors. Our volunteer RACED to the breeder farm to grab the dog. 4 surgeries later and Peanut is doing brilliant. ($2000.00 in vet cost) She is pampered beyond belief. She only knows love and good care now.
