Sunshine Seniors

Some of the dogs rescued will stay in foster care indefinitely. This could be for several reasons including their age, medical status or behavioral issues. We continue to search for a suitable home to care for these sweeties, but some of them will never make it to a new home. The foster homes they reside in are "top of the line" when it comes to care and love. These special foster homes provide specialized "healing" diets, holistic treatments, medical support, therapy and lots of love to their seniors.

Toby

Toby was rescued in a police seizure. When he first came into rescue he was matted with feces imbedded through his fur. His eyes were glued shut due to a bad eye infection. Animal Control determined that he was kept in a house without being let outside for several years. His condition was deplorable when first rescued. His nails were curled under disabling him from walking. He was given medicated eye drops and cyclosporine drops to take daily. He suffered from a bad ear infection, which was treated. When his hair was shaved off, a thick layer of infected skin exposed a terrible skin infection. He was placed on several antibiotic treatments to aid his skin. We took him to have a dental, which exposed terrible dental decease, which was causing terrible pain. 7 teeth were extracted during the dental treatment. He was placed on a high quality food and given special medicated shampoos and conditioners to aid his skin. His foster mom continues his healthy treatments. His skin is still in the process of recovering from the severe damage. He'll be going to the PA Vet School for a skin consultation soon. His personality is beginning to show and he is coming out of his shell. He came into rescue in terrible condition, but will live out the rest of his life thriving with the best of care. Toby is currently being fostered by Carol and son's David and Alex. Carol supports Toby by taking care of some of the expense of his food, medicine, grooming and the many hours of necessary care Toby requires. We send me thanks to this wonderful family and couldn't do this work without people like them. It took a lot of medicine and doctor's visits to rehabilitate Toby, due to the severe condition he was in. Please take a moment and contribute to his care. Your contribution will allow us to help other dogs needing rescue.
